LYDIA ROSE CLARKE
I am a driven textile print design graduate, a highly motivated and enthusiastic designer. Painting and drawing are my passion and driving force as a designer developed through studying fine art until my art foundation where I discovered textile design. Studying textiles has allowed me to explore how to apply my artistic skills in a commercial and contextualised direction. My work is initially hand based, experimenting with concepts using different media which is then taken into a digital realm using Adobe Creative Cloud. I utilise my hand based elements experimenting with contrasts between line and detailed drawings to create prints and designs. Overall, my creative development has been underpinned with my sketching and drawing abilities combined with my wide spectrum of tactile development through various mediums and materials through art and textiles.Â
I have a strong passion for fashion; I have developed my knowledge through attending fashion shows, working in retail for the past 6 years in multiple roles within high-street and luxury retail. Whilst I have been studying printed textiles I haven’t limited my development to this, I have carried out in-depth research to concept, context and materials and utilising this to inform further development such as garment designs, branding and currently working on a collaborative project to explore my designs in a commercial context, helping to design a pop-up store.
I have completed a freelance placement with a luxury swimwear brand which has helped develop my textiles and creativity in industry. I would the love opportunity to continue developing my skills working in an industry that I love and am so passionate about.
